Do you feel passionate about the arts and want to communicate your support to our elected officials?  Toledo’s arts community needs outspoken advocates to step up and speak loudly on behalf of the arts.  The Arts Commission can help to connect you to opportunities to advocate for the arts at the local, state, and federal levels.

Both the Ohio Citizens for the Arts and the Americans for the Arts websites contain a wealth of information about making your case for support of the arts.  In addition, the sites offer easy-to-use tools to identify the appropriate elected officials at every level of government, and how to have effective, productive dialogue with them.  For more information on how to get involved with local advocacy needs in the Greater Toledo area, please contact The Arts Commission for more information.

Ohio Citizens for the Arts

Ohio Citizens for the Arts (OCA), established in 1976 as the Ohio Citizens Committee for the Arts, is a volunteer, nonprofit grassroots organization working to increase public support for the arts in Ohio. Through the efforts of thousands of individuals and arts and education organizations, OCA advocates on behalf of the Ohio Arts Council and the greater arts communities throughout the state. Ohio Citizens for the Arts, a 501(c)4 lobbying organization, works in tandem with the Ohio Citizens for the Arts Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization, to leverage funds and support for the arts and arts education statewide.
