Ode to the Zip Code Poetry Contest
Poetry reading on April 19
Your zip code matters. It's not just an address, it's an identity. The third annual Ode to the Zip Code Poetry Contest culminates in a live reading event on 419 Day (April 19) from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Toledo Lucas County Main Public Library, McMaster Center (2nd floor, 325 N. Michigan St). The contest is a partnership of Toledo Fair Housing Center, the Arts Commission, the Library, and Toledo City Paper. This creative opportunity invited participants to submit short poems inspired by their zip code, where the number of words in each line of the poem is determined by the corresponding digit in their zip code. Finalists will compete for cash prizes and an open mic will follow.
