Main Street Signal Box Wraps

Young Artists at Work 2021

In collaboration with Art in Public Places (APP) one team worked to design signal box wraps for the Main Street Corridor in East Toledo. Led by a YAAW alum, Amanda Gargac, and assisted by Maya Ruswinkle, the team walked the corridor and worked to brainstorm ideas of what they wanted to see along the corridor. The theme was flora and fauna to introduce natural visuals to the urban landscape. Apprentices, some of which from East Toledo met with Arts Commission staff, residents and business owners from the area, and representatives from the City of Toledo Department of Transportation. Subgroups of the team pitched ideas to the clients, received feedback, revised, then the designs were voted on. The top-scoring designs will be installed on the East Toledo Main Street Corridor.
