About Middle Grounds
The Middle Grounds established Toledo as a major U.S. transportation hub in the nineteenth century. Today, this downtown district south of the Anthony Wayne Bridge is still home to major local transportation hubs – Lucas County Port Authority, Norfolk Southern and Amtrak railroads, Greyhound and TARTA – as well as the historic Oliver House and other long-loved establishments including San Marcos Restaurant, the Original Sub Shop and the Green Lantern Restaurant. The area also hosts Middlegrounds Metropark, as well as artists studios on Ottawa Street and Morris Street.
